VIII. Perserverance - How can I keep on track with God? Luke 22 ... Also a dispute arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest. Jesus said to them, 'The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves. You are those who have stood by me in my trials. And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones , judging the twelve tribes of Israel. I firmly believe that once you're a Christian you're a Christian the rest of your life here on earth. But is that true because I'm so strong in my belief and never slip in my Christian walk? Is that what I mean by the perseverance of God's children? Do I act perfect? Do I have the ability always to be true, loyal, and obedient to my Lord? Re-read the story of Peter, the strong follower of Jesus. Jesus just told Peter that he would deny him. And he did. But did he lose his faith? Almost, but because Jesus was praying for him, he didn't lose his faith. In fact, through this painful experience of denial Peter became even stronger. How do we know? He wrote two letters in the New Testament ---- First and Second Peter. Just read how he was blessed because God Himself preserved Peter. It's found in First Peter 5: verses 5-1 1. X Purpose of Life Philippians 2 Peter loved God. Peter failed God. God took care of Peter. That's how we persevere, by trusting in God. HOME
